Eichler Reinvented

This was a near original Eichler that had an earlier planned addition remodel of the home’s rear section. The goal was to be true to the original iconic Eichler design while not being afraid to make it new.

While adding an office and living room, and remodeling two and a half bathrooms, we kept with the ground and sealed concrete floors throughout. Smooth sheetrock transition from the original wood paneling for a much more contemporary bent. New clear cedar stretches the length of the the living room ceiling, jutting beyond floor-to-ceiling Hope’s windows, creating a translucent line between the lush garden just beyond and the comfort of the sofa. Sliding walnut panels create an artistic effect, but also function to close off the living room when desired. Earlier themes of walnut (cabinets this time) and Hope’s windows continue the home’s open theme into the master bath. Heath Ceramics hand glazed tiles used in the bathrooms, harmonize with the concrete, walnut and glass found in each.

Project Duration: 8 months

We've been lucky to have collaborated with Ana Williamson Architects several times. It's challenging, but immensely rewarding to see the end result; always dramatic, stunning, impeccable, and somewhere I'd love to live.
