Instead of the usual chest-thumping that one finds on many company websites, we’d like to describe who we are as a company and how we work as it relates to you, the homeowner—or perhaps the architect, if you’re a design firm looking for a building partner
So, bios first. The principals of MDB are Brian Emery, Troy Turvy, Ryan Osborne and Marcelo Rodriguez. We’re relatively young guys (30s and 40s) to be running a major construction firm but, we'd like to think, we're easy to talk to because we're professionals like yourself. All of us have extensive hands-on experience in building (Ryan and Marcelo still wear the tool belts, occasionally) but, like you, we’re also college-educated, smart, well-spoken and tech-savvy.
Which means that at Mediterraneo we’re comfortable dealing with the emotional sides of a project as well as its technical aspects. We’re good communicators and better listeners, and we love the learning that takes place when people collaborate freely and share their visions. It juices us. And we’re supported by one of the most seasoned construction teams in the area, currently sixteen strong, who, on average, have spent more than a decade with MDB. So you get, shall we say, the wisdom of age and the energy of youth.
A few words about the “Design” in our name. For years we have offered design services in-house, and working so closely with designers has given us insights and working methods few builders can duplicate. For one thing, we can speak the language of design. For another, we understand and value the process. And third, the design in our DNA enables us to understand homeowners’ and architects visions, identify design elements that could be problematic to build and, in many cases, resolve conflicts before they become problems.
To be sure, there are always problems in building, especially remodeling. The key is how you set things right and there, our customers tell us, we really shine. We give and accept constructive criticism easily, stay positive, respond quickly, and adapt to changes in our work environment. If something needs fixing, we fix it. We stay focused on our long-range goals. Above all, we keep our word. By hiring smart subs, using only quality materials, telling it straight, and building it true. Because, in the end, after our trucks and crews have gone, we want you to be satisfied not only in what got built, but in how we built it.
After all, building a home is less about assembling materials than it is about joining people and drawing the best out of each of them. Because ultimately, you can’t separate the quality of the people from the quality of the product.
